Tell Me More
Destiny Team is a gap year program for school leavers, that runs at NCF Church in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
It is a great opportunity for you to be part of a life changing year, during which, you will grow radically in many ways to position you for your future and the life that God has called you for. Not only is it a fun year creating life long memories and friendships, but it is primarily a time of building Godly foundations that will equip you for the rest of your life.
What will I be doing?
Destiny Team members do a number of different things throughout the year. They will go on various missions in South Africa and possibly other countries as well as being directly involved in the life of NCF Church on a daily basis, in the following ways:
Service
Being part of a large multisite church, service is important in order to help the church function on a day to day basis. For most church events or other service areas, team members are assigned specific portfolios mostly involving planning, organizing or leading other team members to get the job done. Service is both an excellent exercise in team work as well as an opportunity to learn personal life skills such as responsibility, time management, planning and people skills
Training
This component focuses specifically on personal growth. It is primarily hosted by the eldership team at NCF Church where relevant bible topics are discussed and taught. Team members are required to participate in discussions, ask questions and even prepare and teach basic topics themselves.
Study
A study program of relevant bible topics has been compiled specifically for Destiny Team members. Members are required to study by themselves or sometimes as a team. There are deadlines for study projects on each topic in order to facilitate a work ethic and to teach discipline and time management. These assignments will be marked and on occasion members will be required to present their findings to the rest of the team.
Life
This a practical component of the program that tries to focus on issues outside of the day to day environment of the team. The intention of the life component is to equip members for various areas of life, that can include work experience, career assessments, public speaking, cooking courses, traveling, decision making and so on.
